Incursion Event

Experience of the first successful Incursion Event

Infinite Incursion Event: Second Run

Today, the infinite incursion event was run again.  APAC servers were again the first to experience this incursion event.  After the failure of the first run, expectations were not very high.  However, the event ran relatively smoothly and Scopely has announced that it has been a success and will be rolled out to the other regions.

Here, I will list out what happened and the experiences during this first run.  As of writing, we have gone through the first 6 hour stage where our server had to defend against the rival server and are now in the middle of the second 6 hour stage where our server is now attacking the rival server.

The Experience

This time around, knowing we were defending, I decided to stay and complete the “All Out Defense” SMS before crossing over to the rival server.  It took over one and a half hour to complete the event.  This is due to the server not registering most of the PvP battles.  Many players complained either they had no score or very low score after completing many PvP battles.  I need to note that, when it was our turn to "Attack", I did not experience any issue with PvP battles not registering and was able to complete the event very quickly.

Once I completed the SMS, I went over and started raiding.  This time the bugs have been resolved (see link for the list of bugs from the first incursion run) and we could raid without any issues.  Every single Amalgam hit on the target base resulted in the following:

1)Increase in the Resource Raided leaderboard

2)Increase in the Allied Ops AMS based on 1 PvP win as an invader

3)Increase in the Champions XSLB based on 1 PvP win as an invader

4)Increase in the Raider XSLB based on the resources taken by your ship

Raiding on my own, I did not experience any lag issues.  However, when I joined other players in group raid, the lag became unbearable.

Tips on "All Out Defense" and "All Out Attack" events

These events require players to engage in PvP battles in specific systems depending on their ops levels.  It also requires them to fight with specific ships and points are awarded depending on which ship you are fighting.  For example, winning a battle against the USS Enterprise gives you 282k points while losing to the USS Enterprise awards you half that point or 141k.  However, defeating a Kelvin awards 676k while losing to it gives you 338k.  It doesn't matter which you use.  Therefore, it makes sense to then use a fast and cheap ship with Vemet as captain to attack a Kelvin to score 2x141k points instead of trying to destroy an it or an Enterprise.

Completing events in the rival server

Other than “All Out Attack” and the “All Out Defense”, events can be completed either in your own server or in the rival server.  For instance, I completed my Cipher event while in the rival server.  Of course, doing it in the rival server may be a bit more risky as your ship will standout (with its hexagon ring) and may result in getting hit by the players from the server.

The second run of the Incursion event is definitely much smoother with the bugs gone.  However, there is still the minor scoring issues and lag to be addressed.  Otherwise, it is quite an enjoyable event.
